Our main website is currently still under construction, but here is some information about our sections.
Beavers welcome boys and girls aged 6-8 years. Their motto is to "Have Fun and Friends" and they work in colonies. The Beavers meet for one hour on Mondays. Beavers have a programme that they work too and obtain badges. Some badges are in stages with a badge at the end of each stage. They take part in District events where they meet Beavers from other groups. They play a variety of games to help them gain confidence and to learn new skills.
Cubs welcome boys and girls aged 8-10 1/2 years. Cubs obey their Cub Scout Promise and they work in packs. Their Leader is "Akela". Our Cub pack meets for an hour and a half on Wednesdays. Cubs have a progressive programme with staged badges and individual hobbies badges that they work for. They also take an active part in District events that are competitive with some that are of interest and amusement. Games are played that are suitable for their age group and ability, in giving them new skills and confidence. Cubs usually go to camp once a year and sleep in tents, normally over a long weekend.
Scouts is open to boys and girls aged from 10 1/2 to 15 years old. Scouts take the Scout Promise obey the Scout Law. The Scout Troop meets every Friday for two hours. Scouts have a progressive programme with staged badges up to Chief Scouts Gold Award and Proficiency badges. They participate in District events that involves challenges and camping overnight. They have an annual Summer Camp, which is usually one to two weeks long, and involves lots of activities and learning. Games and activities are geared to the ability of Scouts.
